Grant for Mortlake art club

Young budding artists in Mortlake can learn new art skills from professionals, after the Powerstation Art club received £1,000 from the council.

The club was awarded the cash after successfully applying Richmond Council’s Civic Pride Fund and will see professional artists come to help young people during their art class.

The youths at the club, all between the ages of 11 and 17, be able to progress on to their Silver Arts Award after the artists teach them about specialist art equipment.

Councillor Pamela Fleming, cabinet member for community, said: “The funds will benefit these young people and give them the chance to work with professional artists who can impart their skills and wealth of experience of the art world.
