Councillors advised to refuse Bexleyheath restaurant permission to serve later

BEXLEY Police have recommended councillors refuse an application to allow a Bexleyheath restaurant to serve takeaway food late into the night.
Current licensing conditions state last admission to Broadway restaurant Laughing Buddha – which also hosts karaoke on Friday and Saturday nights - is 11:30pm.
Managers Vinh Hong and Kiet Kham Hong now want to add a clause to the premises license allowing customers to be admitted into the building later than 11:30pm if collecting takeaway food.
Police are recommending Bexley councillors sitting on the licensing sub-committee on Wednesday reject the proposal based on the restaurants history.
In a letter to councillors, PC Lesley Copleston writes: “Customers attending these premises after 11pm are often intoxicated and difficult to control.
“They are noisy and cause disturbance in the vicinity long after other nearby premises have closed.”
An incident in 2010 when a test purchase operation saw girls aged 15 and 16 served alcohol is also cited.
