The controlled explosion happened near Cutty Sark in Greenwich
A CONTROLLED explosion has been carried out near the Cutty Sark in Greenwich after a historic explosive device was found earlier this afternoon (January 6).
The device, which is thought to have been a hand grenade, has been safely disposed of.
Part of the River Thames was closed off while police dealt with the incident.
