Lewisham Hospital campaigners to stage Goldsmiths Question Time protest

PROTESTORS against the potential closure of Lewisham Hospital A&E will gather at Goldsmiths next week when BBC One's Question Time is filmed at the university.

Lewisham Keep Our NHS Public have organised the protest which will meet outside the Richard Hoggart Building on Lewisham Way from 5.30pm on January 10.

The protest comes ahead of a planned demonstration through Lewisham and Catford on January 26.

An estimated 15,000 people joined a previous march in November and this month's events could be a final chance to show support before the Secretary of State Jeremy Hunt makes his final decision early in February.

Under cost-cutting proposals following the demise of Bromley, Bexley and Greenwich's South London Healthcare Trust, Lewisham could be stripped of its A&E, intensive care and some maternity services.

It seems like a really fine way to cut costs...

What was it again..?

Close down a new £9 million department that is easy to get to, and transfer "the service" to the middle of a field in Woolwich.

There are some gifted people working for the administration side of the NHS...
