A NORTHFLEET teenager has been found guilty of killing father-of-five James Green and sentenced to 11 years in prison.

Tommy Presley, aged 18, of Bankside, was found guilty at Maidstone Crown Court of manslaughter by a jury of seven women and four men yesterday.

His co-accused, a 17-year-old boy who cannot be named for legal reasons, was found not guilty of murder and manslaughter.

Mr Green, aged 29, of Holly Court, Northfleet, was stabbed to death outside his front door on June 21.

Over the course of the four-week trial the court was told how Mr Green was repeatedly harassed on the Hive estate for being a “grass”, something he denied.

Questions remain over which knife was used to kill Mr Green.

The defence said Mr Green attacked Presley with a knife before Presley used that knife to kill him after picking it up off the floor.

The prosecution alleged Presley brought his own knife to Mr Green’s door, stabbed him with it and got rid of the weapon.

A knife was found in the bushes near Presley’s house but pathologists disagreed over whether it could feasibly have been the fatal weapon. There was no DNA or blood on it.

Investigating officer Detective Inspector Lee Whitehead said: “This was a harrowing case in which a young father lost his life. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.”
