POLICE have released an image of a man alleged to have questioned and sworn at children outside Thomas Tallis School.

Officers are appealing for information after a number of incidents where pupils have received unwelcome advances.

The e-fit has been created after children described a man with red hair, between 30 and 40 years old and wearing a green parka jacket.

Rumours of attempted abductions outside the Kidbrooke-based school have been dismissed by police.

Detective Inspector Jonathan Mearns said: "If you know the man in the picture, please contact us - we would like to speak with him.

“I would like to stress that, so far, the allegations made amount to an incident of anti-social behaviour.

"We currently have a number of officers working on this and will pursue all investigative leads.

"I am a parent too and I can share the worry that some may feel - I want to reassure you that we are working with the school and that we do not believe that there is an immediate danger to children.

"I would ask all parents to speak to their children and warn them about talking to strangers - please ask your children to walk on if they are approached, and call 999.

“We would like children to call the emergency number as we, ideally, would like to turn up quickly and speak directly with this individual".

School officers and Safer Neighbourhoods teams are conducting extra patrols in and around the school.

Anyone with information should contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or Greenwich CID on 020 8284 9554.
