Orpington bride spends wedding night in cells after fight at Bromley Court Hotel, Bromley Hill, Bromley

A NEWLYWED spent her first night of married life in Bromley police cells after being accused of glassing a man in the face at her wedding reception.

The 32-year-old woman, who has been named locally as Amy Ward, was still in her wedding dress when she was arrested on suspicion of GBH.

A 29-year-old man was glassed in the face during a brawl at the wedding reception at the Bromley Court Hotel, Bromley Hill, Bromley.

He suffered cuts and was taken by ambulance to Darent Valley Hospital in Darenth.

Another man, a 30-year-old, sustained a broken nose during the same incident but it is understood he was not attacked by Miss Ward.

He was taken to Princess Royal University Hospital, Farnborough, for treatment.

Police were called to the wedding party at around 1am on Sunday (December 9).

The 54-year-old bridegroom, named by locals as Allen Herve, was also treated at the scene by paramedics for a cut to his elbow.

His newly-wed wife spent all night and much of the following day in custody at Bromley police station before she was released without charge on Sunday afternoon.

The decision to release her came after both men told police they did not wish to press charges against the bride and would not assist police with their investigation.
But she was given a caution for affray.

A Met Police spokesman confirmed the bride was arrested on suspicion of assault causing GBH to the 29-year-old man, and was not arrested in connection with the injuries sustained by the 30-year-old man.

On Monday a neighbour of the newly married couple, who live in Gladstone Road, Orpington, said: "Amy was really looking forward to getting married.
"She and Allen seem very happy together.

"He's quite a lot older than her but they seem to get on very well.

"I'm quite shocked to hear what happened at her wedding, I'm sure she must be very upset about it all. I don't know why it happened."

Mr Herve is a CCTV enforcement and contract manager with Bromley Council where he has worked for more than 12 years.

On her Facebook page on Monday the new Mrs Herve had posted a picture of wedding cake figures depicting a bride and groom together.

And a female friend, who did not want to be named, said: "There is absolutely no way that Amy and Allen caused the trouble - far from it.

"There was a guest at the wedding who behaved like a complete animal and he caused the trouble.

"I've never known either Amy or Allen to get involved in anything like this before, it's not in their character.

"This guest got more and more drunk throughout the reception, increasingly misbehaved and acted totally out of order.

"The trouble started when he attacked Allen who had been trying to reason with him, telling him to behave.

"Amy saw Allen being attacked and was desperately trying to stop it.

"It would be very wrong to portray Amy or Allen in a bad way, neither of them was in any way to blame for this.

"I'm sure you can imagine how they must be feeling, no one would want something like this to happen at their wedding."

Ward must have council tenant genes somewhere in her, it's typical low life estate behaviour.

Coming soon to the Jeremy Kyle show.

32 you're having a bubble! Glassing some drunk at your own wedding..... So underclass.
Reading about it in the Daily Wail ....embarrassing.

This just shows the type of morals and decorum woman have developed since being allowed to vote.

Wonder if they asked for a refund on the honeymoon suite, as they were provided with alternative accomodation by the Met Police?

You all do make me laugh with your comments. She is a very classy lady. You are all so very quick to judge. You shouldn’t read all what you read in the papers they just make it up. The truth is the couple are a very polite couple. You shouldn’t tarnish every person with the same brush. Just because they live in a certain area or you seem to think they sound like chavs council tenants or a gypsy. God your all so sad.

Does it really matter how old his daughter is! Seriously what a stupid comment. Dont mean he had her that young - he would have been 23. Not really a teenage parent or anything.

Dont really see what difference that makes either.

They obviously love each other and she's obviously not bothered about the age difference. Doesnt seem to me that the age difference or the fact he has a daughter the same age as her had anything to do with what happened at the wedding!
