BEXLEY police made five arrests and seized more than £20,000 in raids targeting criminals’ cash.

Eight search warrants were executed in Bexley as part of Operation Stimtone 2, the Met Police’s largest ever day of action against economic crime.

At the Crayford address shown in these pictures a middle-aged woman was arrested after a small amount of cannabis was found in a household including a five-year-old child.

Officers hammered on the door at 7.45am on Wednesday (November 14) before searching the house and a car belonging to one of the residents.

But the man police were searching for was not there.

Across the borough 71 officers were involved and Bexley's most prolific alleged burglar was captured.

A police spokesman said: "This Christmas he won’t be available for late night activities."

A woman in her 40s was apprehended on suspicion of international money laundering while a man also in his 40s was held on suspicion of handling stolen goods, dangerous driving and driving while disqualified.

A Mitsubishi pick-up truck and a Ford Transit were seized while more than £20,000 was recovered and is currently under financial investigation.

Detective Chief Inspector Gary Holmes was in charge of the operation for Bexley Police and says "bad guys" in the borough should be worried by him and his team.

He said: "This is all part of a total war on crime.

"We want to outlaw the bad guys and protect the public."
