A 20-year-old arrested on suspicion of murder has been released on bail.

The man was arrested on Monday night after 20-year-old Patrick Lawless, from Twickenham, collapsed in Field Lane and died after being taken to hospital at 12.30am on Sunday, November 11.

A postmortem examination confirmed cause of death as blunt force trauma to the head.

Police have also arrested three other men on suspicion of assault.

All four men, who are in their early 20s, have now been released on bail and are due to return in mid-December pending further inquiries.

Police have linked the murder investigation to an earlier incident outside the Royal Oak pub, in Teddington High Street, at 9.50pm on Saturday, November 10.

Residents said they watched from their houses as noise from a group of about 40 people drinking in the pub got louder and escalated into a fight in the high street, with people smashing glass and throwing punches.

Two men were taken to hospital after the fight outside the pub.

One remains in a serious but stable condition and the other suffered minor injuries and was discharged from hospital.

Witnesses to either incident, or anyone who might have information, are asked to call the incident room on 020 8721 4155 or to remain anonymous Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
