Temporary library set to get go-ahead in Thamesmead

A TEMPORARY library looks set to be built in Thamesmead to continue offering services during a major redevelopment.

Councillors sitting on Bexley Council’s planning committee are recommended to approve an application for the library at the northern end of Binsey Walk on Friday (November 1).

The application submitted by Gallions Housing Association is for the library to be used for three years, while the existing library in the Tavy Bridge estate is demolished as part of the major Thamesmead regeneration project.

With the proposed library being a single-storey development, a separate portable building will also be built to house toilet facilities while 10 car parking spaces will also be provided.

No objections have been raised against the application from the Highways Agency or environmental health.
