DIRTY nappies and sanitary towels are just some of the disgusting items being thrown onto one Thamesmead woman’s balcony.

Melissa Mills has lived in her first floor flat at Trefoil House, in Kale Road, for 17 years.

For months she has complained to Gallions Housing Association about residents above chucking rubbish out of their windows on a daily basis.

Miss Mills told News Shopper: "I feel physically sick when I see it.

"It's got so bad I've got to get out.

"Now I'm out of work with back issues I'm at home a lot of the time.

"My mental health is being compromised because my stress levels are out of the ball park."

The 41-year-old added: "When you live in these properties you can make them as lovely as you can inside but you are still living in hell.

"It's basically like a prison sentence living here.

"I feel for my elderly neighbours."

Miss Mills says she cannot see where the rubbish is coming from as there are 12 floors and 48 flats in the building.

She said: "I wouldn't be surprised at anything else being thrown out of those windows.

"It's quite tough when you are 200 miles from family and there is no support network."

Miss Mills, who has a prolapsed disk in her back, also claims dog fouling next to her flat has left her unable to open the window due to the smell and flies.

A Gallions Housing Association spokesman said: "We can confirm that we recently received a complaint about rubbish dumping and dog fouling from a tenant at Trefoil House.

"As part of ongoing investigation we are looking into the matter with them; including a meeting with the complainant to gather further information.

"Our usual process involves identify those responsible and taking appropriate action which in some cases could lead to eviction for a breach of tenancy if they are found to be one of our tenants.

"However, this unfortunate incident shouldn’t overshadow the good work done by our operatives in helping to keep the area clean and tidy and the general good behaviour exhibited by most of our tenants in the block.

"But we sympathise with our resident and will work to get this resolved quickly."
