A SOLICITOR has been highly commended by the Law Society for her work with young people in Beckenham.
Senior solicitor Carolyn Osbourne, from Streetwise Community Law Centre, was recognised for her work at a Law Society event in Old Billingsgate, London, on October 18.
She was runner-up in the In-House Lawyer category.
Ms Osbourne was nominated for her ground breaking legal work to improve access to education for children and young people.
Streetwise Community Law Centre, in Beckenham Road, helps people aged between 11 and 25 and their families a number of services including housing, education, community care, welfare benefits and debt.
She said: "It’s a real honour for our work at Streetwise to be recognised by the Law Society in this way.
"Sadly the award has come at a time of massive cuts to legal aid, which will make it all the harder for young people to exercise their rights."
