Monument Gardens, Lewisham, stabbing victim found by mothers bleeding in street

The concrete sports pitch where the stabbing of a 16-year-old boy is believed to have happened
TWO mothers found a teenager bleeding from his mouth, leg and arm after he was stabbed repeatedly in Monument Gardens last night (October 24).
The 16-year-old was discovered by neighbours lying on a car bonnet with a trail of blood leading to him after he fled his attackers.
Pauline Linton and Pauline Clarke, who live in Monument Gardens, rang ambulance crews around 5.30pm and spoke with the boy until they arrived.
Ms Linton said: “We ran out looking for him. He must have run and ended up on the top of a bonnet.
“There was blood coming from his mouth, his left leg and arm but we just spoke to him till the ambulance came.
“We were traumatized after.
“We were guardian angels.”
The estate was cordoned off by police and the incident is believed to have taken place in a concrete sports pitch – known locally as “the pen” – which is around 300m from where the boy was found.
Pauline Clarke said: “We were really upset.
“He ran. There was blood all from the pen to the [car].”
The 57-year-old says there needs to be more youth clubs to keep young people busy and she worries for the future of her three grandchildren.
Lamayta Alveranga, whose house backs onto the pitch, says groups of teenagers hang out there and young children are scared to play.
She said: “It is meant for young children from the flats but children are not playing there – they are probably scared.
“My first thought was the council should really close that pen down because it is a place where they gather and hang out. It isn’t doing no good.”
Ms Alveranga says footballs get kicked into her garden and one teenager broke her fist climbing her fence in a rush.
She said: “Even I get nervous. Not a good attitude and now look what happens.
‘I told my grandchildren to stay away for a while.
“It isn’t a bad estate – most of us are shaken to see it’s happened - but something needs to be done.”
A spokeswoman from Lewisham police said: “Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended and discovered a 16 -year-old boy suffering from stab wounds to his arm and thigh.
“He was taken to a south London hospital where he remains in a stable condition."
She added: "His injuries are not life threatening.”
No arrests have been made and police are investigating.

Secondly, I hate the quote, "The 57-year-old says there needs to be more youth clubs to keep young people busy and she worries for the future of her three grandchildren.". This is complete rubbish. There's this misconception that there's less to do now than there used to be. When I was growing up as a teenager I never went yo youth clubs. My friends and I used to go to the park and play football or cricket. We'd meet up with other groups of kids and all have a good time. We didn't go round stabbing people or vandalising things, nor did we feel in danger from other groups.
Thirdly, lets not forget that according to the stats the other day, crime's at it's lowest for 30 years!! Yeah right!

Hold your horses ksc. My "zzzzzzzzzz" comment merely implied that i was tired of reading about another stabbing in the area. It appears to be a daily occurence. I do not wish any ill feeling to the poor kid - i hope he pulls through. When will it all stop ksc?

When I was a teenager, Stephen Lawrence got killed and just before him another young lad from my school got killed in Eltham. It didn't get the same headlines, but I still remember both vividly and remember how shocked I was. I'd never heard of anyone being stabbed in the area before.
