LEWISHAM: Teenager guilty of care worker's murder
Magda Pniewska
Magda Pniewska

A teenager has been found guilty of murdering a Polish care worker in New Cross.

Armel Gnango, aged 17, traded shots with a masked gunman across a housing estate car park in a shoot-out over a debt.

Magda Pniewska was killed on October 2 last year when a stray bullet hit her in the head.

The 26-year-old was taking a short cut home through a car park in John Williams Close.

Gnango, from Streatham Hill, had denied murder and attempted murder and had told the Old Bailey he did not realise a woman had been killed until he was fleeing the scene.

He said the other youth fired at him and he let off a couple of shots into the air to scare him off.

He had admitted to possessing a gun but pleaded not guilty to possessing a gun to endanger life, saying he intended to sell it for a friend.

Gnango was found guilty of all the charges.

The second teenager was also arrested but has not been charged, the court heard.

this young man should have the same fate as the worker had. or will he be out of jail in 12 months under our system

Whilst this was a horrible and tragic murder, I dont seem to remember any calls for "neck stretching" following the Dixie conviction, for an incomparably more heinous crime.

Just what is the point of people escaping war torn African countries only to bring that dumb behaviour here. Nu labour should be in the dock for this murder.
