Have your say: Do Wood deserve to be reprieved?

Boreham Wood have avoided relegation due to the plight of Halifax Town.

But do they deserve Premier League football next season?

Every year teams that end in the drop zone often survive because of the problems of other clubs. For example, Altrincham have been reprieved three years running. Does it make a mockery of non-league football?

On the other hand, Wood could perhaps consider themselves extremely unlucky to have ended in the bottom four. In other seasons, their final points' total would have been more than enough for survival.

Will their lucky escape inspire them to greater things next season?

I think as the local paper it shouldnt matter if its making a mockery of football, it should just matter that the local team have had a turn of luck. Something they didn't get a lot during the season last year. I believe you could also argue that teams not equipping themselves correctly and ending up in a situation like halifax is making amockery of non league football. My opinion is that its something you don't want to see in football, you don't want teams to end up in that situation BUT its happened and if a team deserved a reprieve then its us and you should highlight that fact, not question it.

Next year will be interesting and hopefully a few smiles along the way. Also....asking a question like that to the borehamwood public is rather pointless considering next to none of them come to support their local side.

I agree with "in the know." It is a shame for Halifax, but this matter has been dealt with fairly and Wood were the team to amass the most points with the best goal difference from the eleven relegated sides at this level. As Halifax were a national side then rightly the whole country and not just the Northern based leagues should be considered for a reprieve. Mistakes were made last year, all at the club will hold their hands up to that and this face saving lifeline gives the side a final chance to ensure that the lessens learned can help rebuild a decent side, which will require a huge amount of spade work!
Good Luck to Ian an honest man of integrity who deserves to pit his wits at a higher level after his storming title with Stotfold last year.
I would imagine his first signing would be his leading goalscorer and son Lee, who looked half decent first time around.Thereafter a completely rebuilt spine, which lets face broke into pieces after Steve Cook left would be a top priority.
