WANSTEAD: Flight path objectors given more time
Residents worried about possible increases in aircraft noise have an extra month to make their voices heard - but campaigners fear no-one is listening.
The UK's leading air traffic management company NATS announced back in February that proposals for the most fundamental overhaul in several decades could see the number of flights over Wanstead from London City Airport increase from 143 to 226 per day, with two of the four current flight paths moving directly over the centre of the town at a height of less than 3,000ft.
A 13 week consultation period organised by NATS, was due to end on May 22, but has been extended until June 19 to give members of the public more time to voice concerns.
