Mysterious lights have been spotted in the skies above south west Hertfordshire.

There have been several reports of "silent balls of fire" being spotted in the sky above Watford and Bushey on Saturday night.

Marks Sears says he saw about 13 lights in the shape of a triangle in the sky above Bushey around 11.30pm on Saturday.

There have been similar unusual sightings over St Albans and Hemel Hempstead.

its obviousy aliens coming to invade so run for your ,lifes people of hertfordshie before its too late and we get cloned and become another government conspiracy plese people run

i have been reporting these fire like space cradfts for months now and only now has it come to light why does it take this, my advise is to leave hertfordshire before its too late because FBI is right its a conspiracy
Posted by: John, Bushey on 10:15am Wed 25 Jul 07
Given the weather conditions over the weekend, I would suggest that this is probably 'Ball Lightning' rather than an alien (or otherwise!) conspiracy!
Posted by: Michael wood, watford on 10:50am Wed 25 Jul 07
to all people in watford and surrounding areas please dont swallow what john has to say. after around 27 years of researching aliens around hertfordshire i have sufficiant evidence to belive that john is infact a alien himself and would come at no surprise that he has something to do with these unidentified forms of space craft.

The police answered a call from the local convent about a strange object circling overhead. When the officer arrived, he asked the Mother Superior what kind of object it was. "I can't say", she replied, "but sister Elizabeth says she knows exactly what it was, do you want to speak with her?"

"That's ok", said the policeman, "I'll just put it down as a nun-identified flying object."

there were similar reports in Stratford upon avon . 5 floating lights (Wednesday's Metro)

I saw the lights and now my dog has gone missing. I tried to tell the police but they told me I must be seeing things. Definitely a cover-up
Posted by: PC Barnes, Watford on 2:21pm Wed 25 Jul 07
Gerry: as I told you on the phone, you're dog DIDN'T go missing. You ARE seeing things. This IS NOT a cover up.

I saw the lights they seemed to drift and moved very lazy, they def were nto balllighting as they hng there for ages.
Posted by: Colin, Aylesbury on 2:55pm Wed 25 Jul 07
Hi Gerry. I too have been seeing things, and I've just gained a dog. I think it might be to do with the wi-fi network that the local school have just installed.

Gerry, don't listen to "PC Barnes". He is not a policeman. In fact, he doesn't actually exist as far as I can tell. I suggest disconnecting your phone and buying one of my patented (pending) Personal EMF Shielding Garment http://www.lessemf.c

What are Mark's "Sears" and how do we know we can trust them?

I was out walking in Lower Rudd, Bushey when I too saw the lights. Could it be to do with Global Warming ?
Posted by: J Clarkson, Surrey on 4:33pm Wed 25 Jul 07
Global Warming?? That's insane. My car exhaust kills penguins in Antarctica, it does not produce light shows to startle hippies.
Posted by: Adam, Watford on 4:37pm Wed 25 Jul 07
Really? Would that be Emperor or the common Chinstrap Penguins?

What are Mark's "Sears" and how do we know we can trust them?
It's a mis-spelling, idiot. It's supposed to be Mark's Seer. Mark doesn't have the pan-dimensional vision as described by Mandina Farkarhasan in his book: Manual for Elevated Human Experience Through Equestrian Contact (available exclusively from his website http://www.deagostin

i.co.uk/ilovehorses/

). He has to use a Seer in order to punch through the layers of dis-information that the control freak government spin out to hide the real truth

How foolish are some of the readers comments shown here...ufos are real and i suggest you take a look at some of the ufo sites and the goverment sites.....we are being visited by other beings and its been going on for thousands of years with different star travellers...anyway the lights seen were chinese lanterns which came from a party over near the old Leavesden aerodrome of which i also saw...
take a look:-

Jean, I won't question your grip on reality (which is obviously quite secure) but I will question your ability to see Leavesdon aerodrome from Oxhey. Also, how do you know the aliens don't fly chinese lanterns, eh? That would definitely fool us.

Ha ha you alien nutters!
These are "khoom fay", small paper hot-air balloon lanterns that float up and as far as 5 miles. Quite popular at the moment. They look great when set off together. And also like spaceships apparently!

these were chinese lanterns that were set of from a wedding party at the met police club in bushey, but it has been fun reading your comments off mr and mrs Rudd

3 of us saw the lights on 21/7/07 10.30pm they were doing really weird things, pairing up about 3 pairs and another lot in w shaped zig-zag there were about 12-15 of them altogether we watched them for about 15 mins they were bright orange in colour, silent and moved quite slowly, they came out of the south and headed of west then just disappeared one at a time at the same spot in the sky

Given that all escape routes from Watford are blocked at the moment - road works in Hampermill Lane and West Watford, Watford Road Croxley about to be closed for 4 weeks, the mad traffic cones at Hunton Bridge etc.- these lights must be fed up Watford residents who have found alternative means of travelling to and from work.

I used to live in Bushey and around 5 years ago saw three balls of light in a triangle move very quickly across the sky above the uni fields. I also saw a disc shaped object in Leavesden during the day very very high up and also moving incredibly quickly around 3 years ago
Posted by: Darrell, Bushey on 1:59pm Fri 27 Jul 07
My entire family witnessed this event, it as quite spectacular, we saw at least 15 of these lights, they looked as if they were flying in a formation, I actually managed to get some video footage. I have always been a sceptic of UFO, but these were most definatly objects of a mysterious origin.

My money's on Ball Lightning -- the group of 4 looks interesting, a tetrahedron and LeGrange wrt charged bodies. Wish I had seen it!

Last night around 9.30pm my husband and I saw a red glowing ball moving across the sky. It was silent, moving very quickly and was the colour of a red traffic light. It was glowing like a star but was not a plane or a hot air balloon. It was about 1000ft in the air and was glowing brightly, not fading at all. What was it?

These lights were also seen in Surrey and Hampshire on the same night, there are a couple of videos on YouTube. (http://www.youtube.

com/user/olihello) is just one of the videos.

Quite scary. I've not actually seen them, but would have loved to.

I've seen somethin similarly amazin! A large bright light appeared in the sky over to the east, and has done for some time now. This object then spends the next 10 to 12 hours traversing the sky above. It's amazin! I think it's the aliens.

We have just seen these orange lights again. My whole family witnessed them and we haven’t had a drop to drink. We could see and hear planes but these lights were totally different. Very weird.

my friend and i were driving home at about 11.30pm on sunday night and we saw about 8-10 lights in the sky over leavesden studios. we drove up to greenbanks road and the lights passed us as we were driving and then disappeared from view. we saw them very clearly. they were def not stars or planes. very bright and in a sort of triangle shape. we could not believe what we were seeing! we are both ladies in our 50's and did not imagine what we were saw.

Sat 1st Sept. I was driving between Luton and Hitchin with my wife at 20:45. We saw approx ten orange floating lights in the distance located South of Hitchin and West of Stevenage. Looked liked parachute flares. They were very high, perhaps 2000 to 4000 ft and spaced in a line 45 deg to the horizontal. We saw them for about 5 minutes and got quite close. They eventually faded out one by one. They were on the flight path into Luton Airport. An aircraft passed close by whilst they were there. Any ideas? This siting seems very similar to many others! Is this a hoaxer with a homemade rocket launching flares?

Does anyome remember seeing a silver UFO in the sky, quite low above St.Albans around 1975? I'd seen it coming home early from Verulam School, just a block away, very eerie and ridiculously clear to see, before it sped off.

10pm Sat Apr 26 2008. Approx 2 miles from Luton airport. Several aircraft with navigation lights flying around, then suddenly orange lights. First four in exact distance part, then more, then more. No sound. No navigation lights. I counted around 40 total. Witnessed with friend. I would find it hard to believe the pilots flying around the airport at that time didn't see them. The Chinese lantern theory might have worked with me, other than the fact the wind factor would in no way keep them in such perfect formation and several in exact distance formation. So?...

On Tuesday 6th May I opened up our shop for business as usual. About 8.40am the whole of harpenden town power supply went out completely including traffic lights. As the shop was dark I went out back in the sunshine and happened to look up. I saw a small object int he sky west of luton airport travelling west slowly. Thinking it was aplane i just ignored it until about 4 mintues later it was still there moving west and moving lower till it dissapeared from sight. a minute later all the power came back on.

It was time of hitchins festival. The balls were sent from the priory as lanterns. They followed in single file before buring out. God. The time and date fits.

Did anyone see a UFO in 1975 in Surbiton, Surrey? It was early morning when I saw it out walking my dog. I heard a whirring sound, looked up and saw this huge silver circular ufo which seemed to be hovering about 400 feet above me, almost watching me! When I looked away for a second, it moved away.
