A KIDBROOKE school's under-13 girls football team has beaten all-comers to lift the Inner London Cup.

Thomas Tallis School, Kidbrooke Park Road, beat Bacon's College of Rotherhithe 3-0 to win the silverware, sponsored by Coca-Cola, and also take home the Barnes Newton Cup which they keep forever.

Team manager Jeff Springall said: "It was a fantastic achievement to get to the finals of this competition let alone win it.

"We're all extremely proud of the girls and will all be supporting them when they get into the national competition."

To reach the final Thomas Tallis School had to negotiate five rounds.

They were granted a bye in round one before making the short trip to Eltham Green School, Queenscroft Road, Eltham, in round two.

Tinu Fagbohun got the goals in a 2-1 win sending her team through to a home tie against Burlington Danes School from Hammersmith who were roundly walloped 16-1.

In round four Fagbohun grabbed a brace and Otesha Charles scored as Thomas Tallis overcame Graveney School in their own Wandsworth back yard.

The semi-final was a much tighter affair but the team eventually triumphed 5-4 in extra time over Bishop Challenor School of Tower Hamlets.

The final was held at the Douglas Eyre Sports Centre in Walthamstow.

For the opening 10 minutes Thomas Tallis had to soak up Bacon's pressure but after this spell the Kidbrooke school began to fight back.

They broke the deadlock on 20m minutes Sophies Beeches collected a poor clearance and set up Billie Dabner to score from five yards.

Dabner then hit the cross bar as Thomas Tallis dominance began to tell and just before half time Fagnohun scored the team's second and her 11th of the competition.

Bacon's rallied in the second half hitting the side-netting twice but the majority of the pressure came from Thomas Tallis with Yelliz Ibrahim and Demi Brown dominating the midfield.

Midway through the half, the ball fell to Otesha Charles in Bacon's area but she hit the crossbar from eight yards out.

However, two minutes later a good clearance from Thomas Tallis keeper Keisha Feagan fell to Otesha 30 yards from Bacon's goal.

She turned and ran at the defence before slotting the ball in at the far post to seal the victory and claim the cup.
