MP Since - 2012 (by-election) Majority - 11,761 Born - 12/11/1963.
Education - N/a.

Previous Occupation - Academic and Professional Publishing. Lambeth Council Leader (2006-12).

Locally this has involved opening a new Library and a number of schools as well as building several Leisure Centres. He also has experience of regeneration/employment issues having led the 'Vauxhall Nine Elms Battersea regeneration project' and has focussed on job creation within the Croydon area. He appeared to be a strong candidate for future preferment to a shadow ministerial post, which duly occurred at the October 2013 reshuffle.

Political History - Councillor, Lambeth Council (2000-2013), Council Leader (2006-12). Member for Croydon North (2012-). Member of the Public Administration Select Committee (2012-13). Shadow Minister for the Home Office (2013-).
