O'Leary: We'll raise X Factor game

Dermot O'Leary said The Voice will make The X Factor raise its game Dermot O'Leary said The Voice will make The X Factor raise its game

Dermot O'Leary has said The Voice's success will "sharpen everyone's instincts" on The X Factor.

The ITV presenter told The Sun that the ratings competition was a positive thing - and said the BBC show's format could prove harsh.

"Everyone who goes on those shows does so to be judged and maybe an even harsher critique is someone not turning around," he said of rival show The Voice, where judges only face contestants if they like what they hear.

"I like the fact we are about the package. I like that we get acts like Johnny Robinson who look ridiculous, but it doesn't mean they can't sing."

Dermot said he was "enjoying" having a new talent show competitor.

"It's good we've got competition and it will help us raise our game," he explained.

"It will sharpen everyone's instincts."
