Dir: Paul Weiland
With: Patrick Dempsey, Michelle Monaghan, Kevin McKidd

When New York playboy Tom (former teen heartthrob Patrick Dempsey) decides to turn his back on a life of womanising and propose to best pal Hannah (Michelle Monaghan), he finds himself pipped to the post by charming Scotsman Colin McMurray (Kevin McKidd). Planning romantic sabotage, Tom agrees to be Hannah's maid of honour. But separating her from the ruggedly handsome, old-money wealthy nobleman proves to be no easy task. Until the Americans take a trip to Colin's ancestral Highlands home, that is, and discover to their horror that the Scots are a bunch of backward-looking savages. Much lazy stereotyping ensues before an outcome that's plainer than a dry oatcake. The New York-set section of the film is less offensive, but not much funnier nor any more romantic. Which is a shame, because the cast of this lame rom-com deserves better.
