If you can't get to a U2 concert, let it come to you via 3D. That's the thinking behind this rock doc shot in Buenos Aires. Whether you wave a lighter in the air at the thought of seeing Bono in the round depends on your liking of the warbling munchkin with the big bank balance. All the hits are played here, and the scenes of the audience dancing and images playing across the video wall are impressive. Other than that, it's like watching a very expensive pop video. While capturing a concert in 3D might give a faint air of "being there", it has the disadvantage, for rock stars anyway, of magnifying all those wrinkles and bellies that distance kindly conceals. For that reason alone I doubt the idea has a future. Loved the Spinal Tap moment when Bono set a tiny fire and posed for what was presumably meant to be an imitation of the Statue of Liberty. Nothing like turning the pomposity up to 11, man.
