LIKE it or not, music that doesn’t ask too much of its listener will always have a place – sounds you can take home to meet your nan that won’t throw up on the carpet.
That being the case, it’s better those sounds are made by someone who seems to deserve the acclaim, does a reasonable job of presenting them and remembers to appear gracious. Lemar works very hard to tick all those boxes as tidily as possible – he makes a decent fist of a fairly bland soul-pop formula and is good to his fans who get four new tracks as well as a fine array of Lemar smashes.
The reworking of What About Love? now features JLS, which will surely please fans of both, and is in fine company alongside career-best work such as If There’s Any Justice and Weight of the World.
