ANYONE who had The Courteeners down as the next Twang had better get their coats and clear off, because this (just for once) is actually the real deal.
Where debut album St Jude ran up street and down street like a racehorse on speed, Falcon picks its flights carefully and takes the time to do it properly.
From the haggard party goers of a certain age on You Overdid it Doll to singer Liam Fray’s confessional sulking on The Rest of the World Has Gone Home, this is the sound of young England caught between teenage abandon (Good Times are Calling) and what happens next (Will it Be This Way Forever?).
Elsewhere, Cross My Heart and Hope to Fly is a fine lament, and Sycophant boasts a tasty couplet or two.
