IT was the early 1980s and from the ashes of the careers of prog rock lodestones Emerson, Lake and Palmer, Yes and King Crimson - as well as The Buggles - a new hope appeared, phoenix-like, called Asia.

Bournemouth prog royalty John Wetton fronted the line-up with Carl Palmer, Steve Howe and Geoff Downes and their first two albums sold millions.

Not bad for an off-the-peg blend of fantastical keyboard odysseys and poodle-permed power ballads, all supremely well recorded complete with Godley & Crème (who else?) promo vids.

Fast forward 25 years and Wetton has made it through triple heart bypass surgery to reconvene the original line-up for an album that sounds much as it did back in the day, save for a suggestion of techno house synth stabs on Sleeping Giant.
