PETROL heads can get their four-wheeled fix this weekend thanks to an extra special pit-stop at a Newcastle store.
Formula 1 fanatics can view one of last season’s Red Bull racing cars, which has pulled into the foyer of Tesco Extra, Kingston Park until 6pm Saturday 10 December 2011.
The car, which was driven by double world champion Sebastian Vettel on his way to clinching the title last year, has proved an unexpected treat for shoppers, who are able to get up close to the £4 million vehicle.
Darren Pickering, deputy store manager at Tesco Kingston Park, said: “We are very excited to be hosting a Red Bull Formula 1 car in our store, especially one actually used by a world champion!
“It’s brilliant that Tesco can provide an experience for shoppers that they wouldn’t normally expect to have. This is purely for people to enjoy and there have been lots of people taking photographs of themselves with the car - it’s caused a real buzz in store.”
Kingston Park is the only Tesco store north of the Red Bull racing base in Milton Keynes to host the car, which races at speeds in excess of 185 miles per hour.
