Newspaper house is an art project by Sumer Erek that saw around 120,000 discarded freesheets used to make a house in Gillet Square, Dalston, in Hackney. Pics by Tuba Altunkaya
The team put up the shell of the house first. More than 12ft tall, the house aims to highlight the need for recycling.
Creater Sumer Erek gets to grips with his project. The wooden structure was erected in a local church and residents encouraged to bring and place newspapers into it.
Train companies donated about two tonnes of newspapers left by commuters...
while another 10,000 papers were collected by Project Freesheet.
Erek is passionate about the impact of waste on society, and hopes that his installation will prompt more debate.
The house was put on display over a weekend after which it was recycled.
