The One London party has announced that party leader Damian Hockney is to run for Mayor in May's elections.

Mr Hockney already has some experience of London government having been elected to the Assembly in 2004.

He said the focus of his campaign would be crime, transport and council tax and pledged to scrap the recent western expansion of the congestion charge zone.

"Londoners' lives must be made easier, not more difficult, by the Mayor. Crime, Transport and the Council tax are the key issues where the Mayor can make a difference, he said.

"I am openly free market, anti-regulation and want to see an end to the growing burdens on council tax payers and businesses. I have four years' experience at City Hall, working on the London Assembly, and am the only challenger to the Mayor with any experience of London Government."
