For the children
Get the kids into some culture with a ribbon and dance workshop. The Polka Theatre is also launching a new story writing project and children are urged to get their pens out. Some workshops will be messy so wear suitable clothing.
Chinese Movement and Rhythm: Ribbon Dance
This movement and dance workshop for two to five-year-olds and carers teaches the steps of the Chinese ribbon dance. Museum in Docklands, West India Quay, E14 (0870 444 3855, www.museumindocklands.org.uk) West India Quay DLR. Free with entry to museum: £5, concs £3, under-16s free.

China calligraphy workshop
Explore the art of Chinese calligraphy by taking inspiration from various objects at the Wallace Collection. Make your own calligraphic scripts by using water-based inks on special paper. As this workshop can be messy wear suitable clothing. Suitable for ages 5 and over, an hour per session. Writing the World
The Polka Theatre is launching a new story writing project: Writing the World. Over the next five years children will be invited to write stories inspired by different countries.
