A guide for the China in London season

Chinese New Year celebrations have started for 2008 - the Year of the Rat. London is hosting some of the biggest celebrations outside of Asia this year with its China in London season.

There's something for everyone during the China in London season - plus many of the events are free.

Those seeking a weekend break with a twist will be heading to the capital on February 10 when a colourful parade will tail through the city centre in celebration of the new Year of the Rat.

In Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square and Chinatown Chinese arts and entertainment will take over the streets in "spectacular style", with traditional Chinese food, firecrackers and fireworks all on display.

The China in London season in 2008 will also see events at many different cultural institutions, galleries, museums and visitor attractions.
