A recent charity talent show by pupils at Haberdashers' Aske's School for Girls in Elstree was a great success.
The show, called Party in the Prevett, featured bands and solo performances from pupils, covering a range of pop and R&B songs.
The winning group performed a cover of Don't Speak by No Doubt, and featured Angharad Richardson-Jones on vocals, Anushka Chakarvarthy on drums, Connie MacDonald on bass and guitars by Katie Feld and Lauren Benstead.
Second place went to Claire Crook, who performed as Britney Spears singing I Love Rock and Roll, and was accompanied by dancers Natasha Karp, Julia Mandich, Hannah Gethin and Harriet Stewart.
Laura Thompson won third place with her version of Hero by Enrique Iglesias, backed by Maya Shah on piano. Other acts included Stan by Eminem, Nu Flow by Big Brovaz and Fallin by Alicia Keys.
The concert was staged in order to raise funds for a poverty-stricken primary school in the village of Wamba, in Kenya.
Pupils heard a talk from Janette Butler, who started the appeal, about how funds raised at the show would be used.
The audience, made of of Habs pupils, donated around £450 to the cause.
Organisers Naomi Scherbel-Ball, Anisa Javeri and Anushka Thalayasingam were delighted with the show, and with compares Kate Collins and Jahklyne Hassan, who managed to hide a few technical hitches with a barrage of jokes.
"It was wonderful, everything went really well, except for a couple of hitches which they worked their way through really well," said Miss Thalayasingam.
