QUEEN'S Park Rangers came from behind at Loftus Road to beat Chesterfield 3-1 and get their Nationwide League Division Two season off to the perfect start with late goals from Richard Langley and Kevin Gallen.

A freakish incident earned Chesterfield a penalty from which they were to take the lead. Wes Daly slipped as he went in to a tackle on Glynn Hurst and handled the ball, giving referee Mr Olivier no option but to point to the spot. Marcus Ebdon made no mistake and Chesterfield were ecstatic.

Midway through the second period, Ian Holloway made two changes, bringing on Tommy Williams for his debut and, to the general approval of the crowd, Langley. Rangers continued to press and in the 72nd minute, after a concerted spell of dominance, found the equaliser they were so desperately looking for. Gallen put in a low cross from the left and when an attempted clearance was mishit, Paul Furlong was on hand to rifle the ball home from six yards.

Rangers weren't going to settle for that and set up camp in the Chesterfield half in search of a second goal. With 87 minutes on the clock the goal finally came. A Langley strike from 20 yards out took a slight deflection and whistled past Muggleton to send Loftus Road in to pandemonium.

Deep into stoppage time, Gallen then rounded off a thoroughly entertaining second half with a sidefooted third. A great climax and three hard-earned points.

Rangers came home from Stockport County's Edgeley Park on Tuesday night with a point from a 1-1 draw. Beckett gave County the lead after 62 minutes but Connolly levelled from the spot nine minutes later.

Rangers make the trip north to face Barnsley on Saturday. Their next home game is on Saturday week against Peterborough United.
