A Finchley solicitor who was jailed for seven years in February this year for money laundering was struck off by a disciplinary committee last week.
Louis Glatt, 54, of Chessington Avenue, was found guilty of conspiring to launder almost £2.3million from Southgate crime boss Ellis Martin's bootleg tobacco and alcohol trade, through his Mayfair firm between October 1994 and January 1997.
Glatt had arranged meetings in prison between Martin and his criminal associates by pretending they were legal clerks working on Martin's appeal.
Linda Rudgyard, for the Law Society, told the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal on Friday last week that Glatt had channelled around £730,000 into off-shore accounts set up to clean the 'dirty money' for Martin.
Tribunal chairman Andrew Spooner ordered Glatt, who did not attend and was not represented, to be struck off the roll of solicitors and pay costs to be assessed.
